Barcelona is one the cities most visited by the skaters from
around the world, Barcelona is one of those cities that every
skater dream about, cheap living, full of culture, beautiful women
and most important full of spots where you can skate as much as
you want(no security guys coming after you, no cops and no tickets).
Among the many places you can skate in Barcelona I'm going to
mention just the most important ones:
New Spot: Everybody
call it Newspot I guess because is new, well any way here you
will find a plaza with wood benches on the right and left with
little grass gardens in between, pretty neat!
El Paralelo: This spot is
off the hook, here you will find benches, long ledges(To do manuals
every possible way or whatever you feel like), and short ledges
as well, if you ever get to visit Barcelona this spot should definitely
be in your list.
Los Porchus: I'm sure you
guys have seen this place before in the magazines. I guess the
builders who made this place tried to make a skatepark or something
like it, but they came up with a bunch of waves one after another
with a fence right on the end. This is the place where Geoff Rowley
did a f/s flip over the fence, pretty damn long f/s flip!
Torres y Valles: This spot
is very fun, here you will find a round medium-low handrail with
a bank off the side, you can jump over it into the bank or just
hit the rail, you decide.
Macba: Everybody knows this
place it's in every skatemagazine, here you will find 4 huge stairs,
a nice plaza and ledges all over, definitely a paradise, this
one also should be in your list .
I'm sure by now you are wondering what is like to skate in Barcelona?
Hmm... Well I'm going to describe a day that I remember from sometime
ago:
In like any other day in Barcelona I went to skate around 12
pm to the famous Plaza De Macba. Once I got there I was surprised,
Macba was full of skaters like in a contest, you could see the
whole Zero team, Element and DC as well.
After skating for a while I got thirsty and went for water,
as I was going out of the liquor store a guy came to me, after
a second look I realized to my surprise he was Tom Penny. He was
looking kind of bad, he told me: Dude last night I got into a
fight at a party, look at my mouth, he got broken lips and everything,
I gave him some water and went back to the skating session. Here
in Barcelona is a normal thing to go skate and have a session
with famous skateboarders even get together and go party.
Definitely Barcelona is the hot spot right now, let's keep it
like that! and when I said keep it I mean skate and respect people
and spots so we all can enjoy this beautiful place, Barcelona.
